What is a LeadSHOP?

A place where communities are able to receive many resources, education and awareness, and actionable tools.

  • Test your child for lead
  • Test items in your home that might contain lead (see below on what products may be tested)
  • Test your soil for lead (see below on how to collect soil)
  • Learn lead risks and keep your family safe
  • Sign up for free in home lead evaluation

The following items can be brought in to test for lead (*Note: only two items will be accepted for same day testing and 2 items will be accepted for lab testing):

  • Toys (Especially antiques)
  • Hand-carried items from other countries (e.g., ceramics, cooking pots, pressure cookers)
  • Cosmetics
  • Spices
  • Jewelry
  • Soil (free of small rocks, roots and other debris – see instructions here on how to collect it from your yard)
  • Please do not bring water.

Example items include but are not limited to:

    

    

Items above can be brought with the following requirements:

  • Items must have a flat surface that is at least 1×1 inches
  • Small items like jewelry, toys or amulets must be smaller than 3 x 3 x 3 inches
  • Soil must be dry and without pebbles, rocks or roots. Directions on how to collect soil, click here.
  • Items that can be brought for lab testing include spices and cosmetics with the following requirements: (2 sample limit/person)
  • A small sample will be taken and not returned or replaced
  • In some cases the entire bottle/tube may be needed and not returned or replaced
  • Photos may be taken of the items to record brand and origin
  • We will need your contact information to return the results to you at a later date (within 2-3 weeks)
